A soldier’s life is never easy. The hard life of a soldier starts when he signs in for training. Just signing in for training is hard because of so many requirements needed to be submitted. Then comes the screening process, selection, written exams, medical exams and interviews. If your lucky enough to get through all those comes the training proper.
The hardest in training is the transition from civilian life to military life and if the military culture sets in, training will be just a breeze but still hardships are at hand.
Being a soldier is a life of service to God, country and people. It is hard being a soldier especially if you have a family to look after. Your time is really hard to manage between serving the country and having time for your family.
So, forgive me if I cut this short and live you with a question.
Is there such a person as a good soldier and at the same time a good family man?
Samal Weekend Getaway

In our attempt to make a simple weekend to an exciting one, we usually go to the white beaches of
We took a brief dip on its beaches, cool water under hot and shining sun. Played with their aqua sports equipment such as the aqua bike and double kayak, my son Ethan enjoyed the ride since it was his first.
For last and best of it, we loved their food especially the deep fried shrimps and locally concocted desserts. We also made a short tour of their resort, which proudly boast about their superior rooms, playgrounds, billiard hall, basketball court, volleyball court and their aviary that have several numbers of wonderful birds
All of this good deals and activities under Philippine Peso 90.00 per person which includes the resort entrance, beach access and cottage table rental – isn’t that great affordability!

I believe this is the mark of true love. Love wounds you because you allow yourself to become vulnerable to it and you allow yourself to become vulnerable because it is the only way to embrace it.
For it is how you fulfill each others longing for Love Itself - by a cycle of woundings and healings, a series of comings and goings that bless and purify the spirit of your union which in equal turns maturate and fulfill both the desire for as well as the promise of the sacramental grace of your wedlock vows.
True love is good, it is good because it is true. Love is true because it is real and it is real because God is real. For God is love. Therefore, in your love for one another, stand your ground against all falsities and evil things. And when the trials of this world become wearisome to the union of your souls be brave enough to believe in the truth of the Love Itself between you. To be able to rest in the sufficiency of the Love that dwells in your
hearts; the Love that joins your spirit together into one truth. And the truth that allows you to participate in the mystery of Love itself in the mystery of the Holy Trinity.
Precious friend, love is eternal. Faith will end. Hope will end. But love will not. If we learn to trust in Love Itself apart from the trust that we give to each other then let us not be anxious for Love. For when human love is not enough and we are able to make a choice to abide in Love for the sake of Love Itself - Love Itself being all the goodness, grace, beauty and light that Love brings into an otherwise dark and meaningless existence - then I promise you, my precious friend, we shall outlast the evil of our present times. For all evil and untrue things shall pass away into the nothingness but Love shall always see us through. And where all the best of human intentions may fail, Love will never fail.

Pro Deo et Patria

Through elementary to high school, I studied at St. Andrew’s School in Paranaque, Metro Manila. The St. Andrew’s of my time was an all-boys Catholic high school. It is the same school that my father, most of my uncles, cousins and many of my best friends had also attended. Our school motto is “Pro Deo et Patria“.
I really didn’t think much about this motto while I was in St. Andrew’s. It is only now close to two decades later that I have come to understand the meaning and relevance of this motto in my life.
I wasn’t really patriotic early in my life. And when sentiments of country did rouse from deep inside of me, it was not for the right homeland. God had to take me away from my own people and into foreign lands to stir beliefs inside of my heart greater than myself. I had had to fall in love with the homelands of other peoples first and have had to have my heart broken twice in order for me to realize that I could love no other place but home.
Now, I can truly say that my sense of patriotism has finally found a love worth loving in a land and a people that had loved me back from the moment my parents have conceived me in body and God had given me soul.
I love my country, the Philippines! And as Almighty God would have me love all things well, I shall, for God and Country, love her the way a son should love a mother. For I know that home is where my heart is and my native homeland shall and will always be the Pearl of the Orient Seas, the one and only Republic of the Philippines, and my people, the one and only Filipino nation.
So help me, God.
